Besides the famous hill towns of Arezzo and Cortona, there are many others just as interesting if
not as well known. Monte San Savino and Lucignano nestled in the Southwest plains of the
Valdichiana, San Giovanni Baldarno, Montevarchi and the monastery of Vallombrosa between Arezzo and
Florence. In the northeast corner of this region, you'll find Camaldoli, a beautiful wooded valley
with one of Italy's most picturesque and ancient forests, Casentino. You will find this to be a
wonderful area for its breathtaking scenery and tidy little villages. Close to the Umbria border is
the birthplace of Piero della Francesca, Sansepolcro, where you will find some of his others works,
just as beautiful as the well known as The Legend of the True Cross found in Arezzo's church of San
Francesco, but without the wait. Anghiari and Monterchi are both beautiful towns to spend a day.
