Apartment, 1st Floor
Large, spacious, luxurious. This Rome apartment is located just 7 minute's walk from Campo de Fiore and a 10 minute walk to Piazza Navona. Head east and cross the Tiber river and the Tiberina island and you are in the most eclectic and the area most Romans want to live, my Roman cousins included: Trastevere. Here, the original Roman cobblestone streets are flanked by medieval houses and filled with wonderful and casual trattorias, pizzerias and bakeries.
The apartment sits in the middle of the small ancient area called the Jewish Quarter. One of the hidden treasures of Rome. A small neighborhood, rich in archaeological and cultural heritage as well as religious, but also of refinements and culinary specialties that have significantly inspired traditional Roman cuisine. Tourists and locals make this area a destination for the delicacies the restaurant offer, Artichokes all guidia, fresh sour cherry jam with ricotta, and fusion recipes that mix traditional Jewish cuisine with international one. It also harbors the only Austrian pastry shop in Rome
It's possible to take a pleasant walk on the beautiful streets and squares in the neighborhood. Via della Reginella, Via di Sant'Ambrogio, Via del Tempio, Piazza delle Cinque Scole and piazza dei Cenci offer you glimpses of Roman life and a tranquil moment in a bustling city
If staying during the summer, for a week or more, head out of the city to the many lakes for a day of relaxing, sunbathing and swimming. Or head out to UNESCO site of the Necropolis of the Banditaccia in Cerveteri This complex has more than 1000 tombs, dating back to the 9th century BC. Many of the graves are mound shaped, and some burrow several stories underground.
This Rome apartment is located in an ancient palace, off a very pretty piazza where you can sit, enjoy the view and fresh air. It dates back to the 1500's and some of their descendants live in the Palace today.
Enter the palace and up a set of red-carpeted marble stairs ( 16 steps ) to the first floor ( US 2nd floor). This floor in ancient times was called the Piano Nobile, the floor where the noble family lives, the merchant store was on the ground floor and the upper floors were for staff.
The apartment is on two levels with modern decor. Enter into the foyer, and you have a very large spacious living/dining room with ample seating and a large dining room table that can accommodate 12 comfortably. The antique ceiling is surrounded by frescoes, a pleasant contrast to the modern decor.
The billiard table in the game room sits under a breathtaking set of frescoes from the early 17th century. From its room, you enter the fully equipped kitchen.
Beyond the kitchen are three bedrooms, 1 full bathroom with tub and wall mounted shower, and three half bathrooms ( WC )
The other two bedrooms are located in the Mezzanine, One has an en suite bathroom, with tub in the bedroom and a WC with a double sink off the corner of the room. The fifth bedroom is a twin that can be combined on request, it's bathroom across the hall, with shower and single sink. If needed, there is an alcove in the hallway with a single bed, at no additional cost, but does not have a door.
Enter the Palace's threshold and a 15 step staircase leads you up to the first floor and your front door
