Il Prato is an exquisite country estate in the heart of bucolic Chianti in a meadow surrounded by the characteristic rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves and forests that make Chianti one of the most desired places in the world. These three farm buildings have been converted into luxury villa rentals and are part of one of Tuscany's oldest working farms, continuously farming since 1404. Still producing wine for over 600 years, you are surrounded by vineyards, olive oil and wheat fields. High up on a hill and five km from the center of the main estate, you are away from it all and immersed in Tuscany's idyllic countryside
One of the reasons you come to Italy, to Tuscany, is to immerse yourself in the past. Here it hangs heavily in the air and fills you with an emotion you simply can't express. Yes, the villas are now luxury beyond any 15th century farmer's dream, but the stone structure and the views are almost the same as when they built and lived here in the 1400's.
Il Prato means 'the meadow' which is now lush lawns with plenty of outdoor spaces to relax, read a book, and meditate. Start your day with breakfast under the Tuscan blue sky and end it among friends with a bottle of Chianti under an umbrella of stars. In between wonderful meals and sightseeing you will want to spend that time at home. Lounge poolside on a warm mid day break, ride one of the bikes on the estate or walk through the winding foot paths through the neighboring forests, stroll through a vineyard or olive grove between sightseeing excursions. Work off all that glorious pasta in the gym or skip right to the Steam bath. Wi-Fi and TV for the kids, or gather together to watch a movie at the end of the day.
The estate includes the farmhouse and two outbuildings that were once stables for the animals. Even in the 21st century it is normal to protect the animals from predators in the evening and pasture them during the day. Today all three buildings have been restored to luxurious accommodations with respect to its history. The beautiful stone walls dug from surrounding fields, chestnut trees from the nearby forest felled by only an axe adorn the ceilings and terracotta floors fired in a nearby kiln from the earth below your feet now contain the luxurious décor for her guests. Oh! If these walls could talk!

The Hay Barn Sleeps 4 with 2 large bedrooms sharing a large hall bathroom with shower.
Set back from the villa, it is completely private. Originally built in the 1500's as the hay barn, it is now beautifully restored, with exposed whitewashed trusses, giving the cottage a light and airy feel. Cozy lounge leads onto a fully equipped kitchen and opens on a private terrace sheltered by rows of Buxus hedges. One bedroom with en suite bath with walk in shower
