Located just 6 minutes below the famous town of Cortona, a small hill town of 22,000 residents, and only a few thousand in the historical center, it still has an authentic old Tuscan charm yet the convenience of all types of shops and many restaurants. If you are looking for a villa location that will give you the feeling of being an Ittalian during your stay and you don't want the kids to get bored, this is an ideal location for you. There is a lot to do in Cortona for those times you are not out touring the countryside. Cultural events at the Teatro Signorelli are varied and lower priced than in the larger cities of Siena and Florence, visit the Etruscan Museum, walk to the church of St. Margherita and view her body under the alter. If you are coming in the summer, plan it around the Tuscan Sun Festival where musicians from around the world convey for a few weeks.
Shop along the natives at the local weekly market, or the main grocery store, fruit and vegetable stores . The wine store caters to locals, and a shop makes fresh pasta daily. In the morning, after you stop at the local coffee bar to start your day, run over to the local bakery for a real treat, a special bread using stone ground wheat and baked in their wood oven is a very nice change from the salt less bread found throughout Tuscany.
From the villa, you will find it easy to tour Tuscany and Umbria and find that one week is never enough... more reason for you to return!
Spend a day in San Gimignano and Siena. The thermal baths this area is rich in sulfur waters, so you can choose from Bagno Vignone, Rapollano Terme or Chianchiano Terme. A great stop after a morning at the Outlet Malls.
Spend an afternoon tasting cheese and wine, Pienza is a beautiful town that cannot be missed, but also neighboring farms produce some of the best cheeses in Italy. Wine tasting at one of the many vineyards in Montepulciano pares well with the famous pecorino cheeses.
Spend a day hiking the many trails in the area, or an ideal day is visiting the small surrounding villages, you can visit in the morning, come home for lunch by the pool and venture out again in the evening for a festival or dinner. San Giovanni d'Asso and its truffle museum, Castiglione d'Orcia, Buonconvento, or Castiglione Fiorentino
It's a must to spend at least one day in Umbria, while it's Tuscany's neighbor, it has a distinctive landscape and artistic style, and the cuisine is different. Decide how to spend your day, Assisi, Orvieto, Gubbio or the smaller villages with less crowds, such as Spoleto or Spello. A wonderful old village with great character and even greater restaurants at moderate prices is Bevagna.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Montallo is a lovely house, set among lovely grounds, with breathtaking views. It is ideal for two families or adults traveling together. Divided into two separate living areas, yet many communal areas to spend together.
LAYOUT
Enter from the terrace with outdoor living spaces into the large foyer. On your right, the old wine cellars have been converted into an open plan living room. Beyond this room is the fully equipped kitchen with the original wood burning oven. To the left of the foyer is a queen bedroom with en suite bath.
A staircase in the back of the entrance hall takes you up to two queen bedrooms with en suite baths, and views over the valley and onto Umbria.
There is an external staircase from the gardens that leads up to a covered terrace furnished with wrought iron tables and chairs and the outdoor barbeque. From this terrace you reach a large living room with fireplace and a dining room and second kitchen. From the living room are the two final bedrooms, a queen bedroom with en suite bath and a twin bedroom with hall bath, both baths have showers.
