Bella Caterina is comprised of a large villa, Villa Contenta and a comfortable country style house, Casa Federica, that sits on the edge of the villa's gardens. Here you have the best of both worlds - village living with a countryside feeling. Bella Caterina offers the beautiful country landscape of an area known as Le Crete, and has beautiful grounds and unbelievable views of the Siena countryside. While the village is quite intimate, it has all the necessities you need to settle in for a long stay, including a coffee bar, two truffle and wine bars, a pharmacy, post office, supermarket, bank and characteristic shops such as a butcher and a baker, a gourmet restaurant along with weekly markets and a Tartuffo museum. A recent article in THE NEW YORK TIMES featured this town and museum which now brings tourists to this sleepy town, but your house is on a quiet street and once you are inside, you find the quiet and peacefulness of a country home.
There are many things to do in this area. Explore the small villages of Montisi, Asciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano, San Quirico d'Orcia, Buonconvento, Bagno Vignoni or take easy day trips to Siena, Lake Trasimeno, Assisi, Perugia, Florence, San Gimignano, Bormarzo, Mount Amiata or the Maremma. This large and spacious villa dates back to the 15th century and sits opposite an ancient castle that now has one of the best restaurants in the area. A large sunny terrace and expansive garden overlook the spectacular Tuscan countryside. Situated on a hilltop with views of the Asso River and sweeping landscapes, the villa was originally built as a 15th century palace and was at one time owned by the Bishop of Pienza and members of the noble Sienese family, Montepulciano. The current family has owned Bella Caterina for over 100 years. Beautifully furnished and elegantly appointed, you will truly feel Under the Tuscan Sun!

Main Villa

Ground Floor
Enter the house through a beautiful formal 19th century garden. The foyer leads to two living rooms and two dining rooms, one of which leads out to a large sunny terrace which expands your living space with a large dining table and chairs. There is a fully equipped galley kitchen, a double bedroom with en suite bathroom with showers and ancient frescoes on the ceiling, a double/twin bedroom with adjacent bathroom with half tub and a twin bedroom with en suite bathroom with shower on this floor. Another bathroom with shower on the ground floor is used by the double/twin bedroom on the mezzanine level.

First Floor
Here are three double bedrooms, a twin bedroom and three bathrooms with showers.

The large swimming pool is edged with a lovely garden and views too spectacular to describe. A nearby changing room with half bath and tables, chairs and umbrellas create an outdoor living area designed by Mother Nature. At the edge of the garden, a gate through a privacy fence leads you to the small courtyard and swimming pool of Casa Federica. The country house can also be accessed through its own private street entrance.

Private Country House
The private country house, which is on the adjoining property and separated by a privacy fence and a large gate, sits on the edge of the village. This 15th century house has its own private entrance that leads out onto a furnished terrace and small private swimming pool maintained by the gardener. The courtyard and swimming pool have the same spectacular views of the Le Crete countryside. A few steps down you reach an open sunning area with deck chairs set among a 14th century well (covered for your protection). At the other end of the pool is a changing room with shower along with gorgeous views of the Sienesi valley.
The ground floor is one large room with Renaissance period archways that divide the living areas: a sitting room with a large 16th century fireplace, a dining area and fully equipped kitchen. The wrought iron staircase leads you to the three bedrooms. There is a double bedroom on the left with a beautiful Palladian window overlooking a quaint narrow street and two bathrooms with showers in the hallway. At the end of this hall is a double bedroom to the left and a single bedroom to the right, both with stunning views of the soft, rolling landscape that trademarks the Le Crete area. The single bedroom has a single sofa bed, perfect for a child. All bedrooms are equipped with air conditioners and ceiling fans.
