The Veneto is the most diverse region in Italy. This area, north of Venice is located at the foothills of the Alps scattered with charming and ancient villages and imposing castles and villas. It was the summer retreat of nobles where they escaped the heat of Venice and moved to where the air is still crisp and fragrant. The romantic towns of Asolo and Castelfranco are waiting to be explored. As you wander further north, you'll notice the change in architecture and the alpine influence from when the Hapsburgs of Austria ruled this area. The town of Conegliano is known for the delicate and sparkling Procescco wine and driving through the 'strada dell Prosecco' or 'the Prosecco road' is a wonderful way to spend the day, traveling through vineyards and olive groves from winery to winery.
