The Fisherman's House originally was a fisherman's cottage, offering the luxury of being perched right on a narrow pebble beach along Como's western shore in Santa Maria Rezzonico, with spectacular views of the lake from every window. Ideally located you are within walking distance of a sleepy little hamlet which conveniently has a grocery store, a pizzeria, a restaurant and a bus stop to get you to the other towns if you prefer to leave your car at home. Beautifully restored, the cottage maintains its original charm – a wooden boat adorns the kitchen ceiling as homage to its past - yet it has all the comforts of home. Warm and inviting colors and antique furniture give this house a cozy feeling. Relax and rejuvenate in the sauna, enjoy the breeze and the sound of water lapping the shore on the terrace while barbequing and enjoy the wonderful views of the lake.

There is much to see and do in this area. Nearby you can rent a boat, and enjoy water sports on a hot summer day, including boating, sailing and windsurfing. Scenic hiking trails are abundant leading from the lake through the hills. For those that enjoy golf, you will find many courses in this area, and if shopping is your favorite pastime, this area is know for the production of silk, where you are sure to find a lot of bargains among all of the upscale boutiques, not to mention the designer fashion factory outlets just over the border in Switzerland.
The house is just six kilometers (less than 4 miles) north of the fashionable town of Menaggio where there are ferries allowing easy access to other villages that dot the shoreline and the lake islands. Como is only thirty kilometers to the south. On the southern shore is Bellagio, called the pearl of the lake and considered by many to be the most beautiful town in all of Europe. Its narrow cobbled streets, breathtaking views, impeccable homes and glorious villas make it a most enchanting spot to visit during your own unforgettable holiday on the lake.

Because this was originally a fisherman's cottage, access to the house in those days was by boat. Today there is still no road leading directly to the front door. Guests need to park the car outside the hamlet and walk 250 meters (75 yards) along an old cobbled path that includes some steps. Because these steps can be slippery when wet, we do not recommend this house for guests with walking difficulties. This is definitely a house where you need to leave your high heels at home and wear your walking shoes.
