This beautiful province has unspoiled wilderness
and sandy beaches. There is much to do in the Maremma
area, a natural area that includes a wild bird preserve.
Rent a canoe to explore the irrigation canals and you
will certainly see a lot of the wild animals that call
this area home. Storks, herons, hawks, falcons and wild
boar are plentiful in this area. The scent of sea lilies,
junipers, sea lavender and rosemary hangs in the air.
There are great walking paths where you will come across
many species of butterflies.
This province is rich in agriculture where the famous
"butteri", or cowboy, will be found herding their grazing
cattle. It also harbors great Etruscan and Roman ruins,
and many small towns waiting to be explored. The interesting
Pitigliano, Orbetello, Monte Argentario are just a few of
them. Soaking in the natural Jacuzzi of the hot sulfur
waters of Saturnia is an excellent way to end a tiring
day of sightseeing.
