The city of Camaiore ( pop 35,000) is just a 5 kms / 3 mile drive, convenient for shopping and sightseeing. Elegant buildings of its beautiful center the testimony of the events that make up its past: in the summer you will find festivals and all year long visit the beautiful Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta; the Church of San Lazzaro and the austere Badia di San Pietro. Palazzo Tori Massoni, home of the Archaeological Museum, is certainly worth a visit. Lucca is under 18 kms/ 11 miles, Pietrasanta 10 kms / 6 miles, and Pisa 36 kms / 21 miles. . There is the wild Garfagnana , a mountainous region with hiking trails and caves (Antro del Corchia and the Grotta del Vento). Florence, Chianti, San Gimignano, Siena, the Maremma , the Cinque Terre and Portofino can be reached in 1-2 hours. Some of the most famous beaches of Versilia: Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi are also a short drive, perfect for fresh seafood meal on or near the beach .

Every summer the Puccini Festival plays well known operas on the Torre del Lago just outside of Viareggio in Italy. The open-air arena is located in idyllic surroundings overlooking the lake. The season begins from mid-July and ends around mid-August time.You can visit the Puccini opera house and his house on the lake, before taking in one of the many summer concerts.
