Villa Aldo sits 400 meters above the town of Miena and 750 meters to the beach. Miena is a graceful little town of 2500 that at the turn of the 19th century became a tourist destination for wealthy northern Italians and large villas dot the shoreline to this day. Today it attracts people around the world for the beautiful beaches and water sports. The surrounding mountains are ideal for hiking and horseback riding. Enjoy a walk along the shore side promenade, especially after dinner at one of the many restaurants that line it. It is magical to see the lights of other towns twinkle on the lake and hills. This town is called the village of villas and there are many to explore. If the kids tire of the beautiful villas and formal gardens, a trip to the museum at Villa Faraggiana is a perfect distraction.
This contemporary villa sits up on the mountain, with plenty of sun and shade. Cool breezes off the lake and shady areas in the gardens offer many places to relax and unwind. Read a good book, play billiards in the family room, enjoy the sun-filled swimming pool or relax under the nearby shaded terrace.
Various living spaces on the ground floor includes the living room that faces the lake, the study where you can keep your laptop, the kitchen with adjacent breakfast area faces the gardens and swimming pool behind the villa while the dining terrace has views of both the lake and the gardens. The staircase is to the back of the villa, leading to the six bedrooms above.
The pool is reached through the terraced gardens behind the villa. Note that there are steps to reach the pool area and not recommended for those with walking difficulties. The fenced-in pool includes a pool house with changing room, bathroom and small refrigerator. Additional steps from the pool take you to a vine covered shady terrace with more lounge chairs and breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore and if you have children, the ideal spot to relax while keeping an eye on them
Beach and its trendy Meina Beach restaurant-pizzeria. Meina's train station is just 1 km away. Nearby you will find the lively town of Arona (4 km) with a beautiful promenade along the lake and many interesting shops and fine restaurants. From there you can easily hop on any ferry to explore Lake Maggiore. In Arona there is also a train station connecting you easily with Milan. Less than 15 km away is Stresa, the most popular tourist resort town of Lago Maggiore, and the magical Borromeo Islands with a summer palace noted for its gardens. Further north you will find the botanical gardens of Villa Taranto in Verbania. Easy one-day trips are possible to the famous Piedmont vineyards, the romantic Lake Orta or trekking in the nearby mountain valleys.
