There are few vacation experiences that can prepare you for the splendor and magnificence of the imposing 11th century Castello and medieval borgo that surround it. It is amazing to consider that the occasional glimpse of the Castello and Angelica high up through the trees is your ultimate destination!
In ancient days, the castle in the hamlet was a strategic look-out point for potential enemy attacks and played an important part in the defense of Siena. Its flag is still waved every year during the Palio in Siena as a symbol of gratitude for this protection. Today, the hamlet has been carefully and completely restored as Angelica, with five exquisite and individual properties. Each has been impeccably renovated using the visions of renowned Italian and English designers. Outdoor terraces are furnished for dining al fresco and the surrounding gardens are meticulously maintained. Here in Angelica is a theatre, perfect for wedding receptions or any type of celebration, along with a 16th century church, ideal for weddings or recommitment services. And, there is no need to drive if you decide to dine out. The restaurant on the premises serves delicious local dishes, using seasonal ingredients. Numerous footpaths meander through the borgo, offering some of the most beautiful vistas in Tuscany. Angelica is, in a word, spectacular!
Five exquisite and individual villas comprise this restored 11th century medieval borgo. Their Tuscan features capture the charm and ambiance of the enchanting fairy tale setting. Beamed ceilings, some with frescoes, antique fireplaces and period furniture combine seamlessly with the modern comforts and conveniences we've grown accustomed to in our own homes. No detail has been overlooked, from the tableware, linens, crystal and fittings to the meticulous gardens and the surrounding grounds. Angelica has fifteen bedrooms that can accommodate thirty guests. Each bedroom has its own en suite bathroom with tub and shower.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Villa Messalina – 8 Guests
Entrance Level: Foyer with stairs to the upper level, guest bathroom, large, comfortable living room with working fireplace and superb views of the surrounding countryside and arched ceilings decorated with 19th century style frescoes and designs. There is a formal dining room with beamed ceiling and seating for up to fourteen guests, a library hall, complete with working fireplace and flagstone floors and a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art kitchen.
First Floor: The master bedroom suite occupies the entire floor. The suite consists of a beautiful and separate sitting room with doors through to the dressing room and a door through to the double bedroom. The en suite bathroom has a tub, walk in shower and marble sinks.
Lower Level: Here are three bedrooms; a double bedroom suite with separate sitting area and en suite bathroom with tub and shower and two twin bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms with tubs and wall-mounted showers.
Casa Jolanda – 6 Guests
Entrance Level: Large comfortable living room with working fireplace and fabulous views. There is a semi-circular study (part of the tower) and a double/twin bedroom with en suite bathroom with tub and wall-mounted shower.
First Floor: The master bedroom suite occupies the entire floor. The double bedroom has stairs leading to a charming dressing area in the ancient tower. There is an en suite bathroom with tub and shower stall.
Garden Level: The fully equipped kitchen leads to the garden and a covered outdoor terrace for al fresco dining. There is a large Tuscan dining room with seating for twelve and French doors opening to the garden and a double bedroom with en suite bathroom with tub and wall-mounted shower.
Casa Teodoro – 6 Guests
Entrance Level: The living room has comfortable sofas and chairs surrounding an antique fireplace. The dining room has seating for eight, the large, fully equipped kitchen with marble countertops is adjacent to the living room and a vine covered pergola leads out from the kitchen.
First Floor: Stairs lead to the three double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms.
Cottage Virginia – 6 Guests
Entrance Level: A walk through the patio gardens brings you to the entrance to the beautifully restored cottage. Here is a spacious dining hall, a large, comfortable living room with fireplace, accessed through an archway leading from the dining hall and a fully equipped, eat-in kitchen.
First Floor: Upstairs are two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom. The bedrooms all have en suite bathrooms with tub and shower.
Casa Rafaello – 4 Guests
Entrance Level: Lovely, well appointed living room with fireplace, beamed ceilings and stone floors and a dining room with seating for six. The fully equipped, modern kitchen leads out to a patio with table and chairs for dining al fresco. Casa Rafaello is air conditioned.
First Floor: Upstairs is a double bedroom suite with an en suite bathroom.
Second Floor: Another double bedroom suite is found on this floor, also with an en suite bathroom.
Grounds
Two Swimming Pools – A meandering footpath leads to one of the two swimming pools, which has been created with a backdrop of the ruined tower and forms part of the walls of the village. The pool (12 x 5m) is situated in terraced gardens near Villa Messalina with breathtaking views and offers many areas for shade and relaxation. There are separate changing rooms for men and ladies. The other swimming pool (16 x 4.5m) has stunning views of the surrounding countryside and is found near Villa Jolanda. Both pools can be heated upon request.
Theater – A perfect venue for wedding receptions, conferences or any other celebration and can comfortably seat one hundred sixty guests.
Church – Narrow streets lead to a small 16th century church, ideal for weddings or recommitment services.
Two one bedroom apartments each with sitting room, double bedroom, dressing room and bath with shower and tub
Restaurant - Michelin rated restaurant and bar managed by Italy's most famous chef on the premises, offering authentic Italian cuisine. Enjoy dinner served at your villa or take a walk through the borgo; you do not have to drive to dine out while staying at Angelica.
