There is no question that Villa Regina is one of the most beautiful villas on Lake Como. Commissioned by the most important Italian aristocratic family in the 1700's it was designed by on of the region's most important architects and the most sought after interior designer of the time. The owners handed down this villa through the centuries, and its guest list is historic: the most famous musicians, writers and artists of the times have been Villa Regina's guests, as well as important state figures such as Napoleon Bonaparte and Winston Churchill. Vicente Bellini, from Sicily, lived here from 1829 to 1833 and composed his opera, "La Sonnambula" recounting life in a nearby Swiss village debuted in Milano in March 1831. Villa Regina's gardens are one of the most beautiful on Lake Como. You can almost hear Bellini's La Sonnambula wafting through the gardens as you take a leisurely stroll through the same Italian- style gardens with the addition of heated swimming pool with spectacular views of the lake.
Everything about this villa is remarkable, making it ideal for weddings, family gatherings or special occasions.
Perfectly located between the famous Villa d'Este Hotel and George Clooney's villa, Villa Reginasits perched above a village and sweeps down to the shoreline. A few restaurants and shops are within an easy walking distance while more are to be found just 3 kilometers away at the pretty waterfront town of Cernobbio where you can take a break at a sidewalk café on a pretty cobblestone street. Cernobbio's main attraction is the infamous Villa d'Este which became a hotel in 1873 after being a neighboring home to Villa Bellissima. We highly recommend dinner or lunch at Villa d'Este during your stay. Not only is chef Luciano Parolari a master in the kitchen (and a very nice man) and the wait staff understated and attentive, but you may get lucky as we did one night and have George Clooney at the next table. There was nothing better that night!
The estate consists of the expansive main villa and the guesthouse, Villa Regina's Bellissima, which may be rented out for additional guests. See LO02 for a complete description and photos. It will not be rented to an outside party when Villa Regina is booked, guaranteeing your complete privacy. The entire property was painstakingly restored and renovated by the new owner in 2002 with detailed attention given to every room and feature. The walls are decorated with antique prints and paintings, the floors are a beautiful mixture of ancient terracotta and wood and the ceilings in many of the rooms are ornately painted some frescoed by Napoleon's personal artist .
Beautifully appointed with modern conveniences, you have all the comforts of home in a luxurious setting. There is a billiard room, a fitness room, a cinema room and computers with internet connection. A favorite room is the pizzeria, with its massive fireplace and an antique brick pizza and focaccia oven. There are also two pianos in the villa. One is in the music room and the other is a player piano that plays jazz, modern and classical music. Two fully equipped professional kitchens are at your disposal, complete with subzero refrigerators and Viking and Gaggeneau ovens, grills and ranges.
GROUND FLOOR
A large entry room with marble staircase, a formal oval dining room with 16 marble columns and fresco painted by Appiani, a Tuscan family dining room, an open living room with fireplace and TV and views of the lake, two kitchens each with large Subzero refrigerators and wine coolers, Viking and Gaggenau appliances. Verona marble countertops and hand carved cabinetry. The kitchen also has the original 8 foot stone fireplace with the original owner's family crest, a billiard room with hand carved English snooker table, Cinema room with large fireplace and mahogany bar, wine room and a study with telephone, fax, computer and satellite TV completes the ground floor.
FIRST FLOOR
Fitness room Albertolli frescoed music room with an antique Bluethner concert grand piano that once sat in the Leipzig concert Hall and a player piano that plays modern, jazz and classical music. This room has spectacular views of the lake.
The first suite has a 180cm bed, a marble fireplace, views of Lake Como, and a bathroom with a shower and separate tub with a handheld shower.
Suite Laura is 1418 square feet and is the most spectacular suite in the Villa. It is positioned at the corner of the Villa with magnificent views of the lake to the north and the south. The entire suite is wood paneled and painted decoratively reflecting the Villa's eighteenth century origins. In the bedroom is a large grey marble fireplace that is original to the Villa. The bedroom is 612 square feet and the bathroom is 648 square feet. For the Signora is a delicate powder room of 158 square feet.

ACCOMMODATIONS
The second suite has a sitting room, a bedroom with 180cm bed & views of the lake and swimming pool and an ensuite bathroom with a tub. This suite is 1026 square feet. The bedroom is 432 square feet. It has beautifully restored wooden floors, Zoffany wallpaper and important paintings and antiques. This suite has a beautiful and separate sitting room of 378 square feet and lovely bathroom of 216 square feet with antique Rotterdam WC and steel English bathtub.
The third suite has a bedroom with a 180 cm bed and a bathroom with a shower and separate tub. it has beautiful views of the mountains and of Moltrasio. It measures 943 square feet and contains a large bedroom of 643 square feet and a bathroom of 300 square feet. The bedroom has antique wooden floors and is decorated in Colefax and Fowler wallpaper. There is a four poster matrimonial bed in this bedroom with beautiful English and Italian antiques. The bathroom has a steel and porcelain antique English bathtub and skeleton shower encased in crystal glass.
SECOND FLOOR
The first suite includes two bedrooms and one bathroom with a tub. The first bedroom has a 180 cm bed and the second bedroom has a 90 cm bed and a bathroom totaling 869 square feet. this suite faces the mountains and the village and has a double four poster bed, Zoffany wallpaper and a bathroom with a beautiful steel-covered antique English bathtub. The second bedroom, ( on request ) for one person, contains a decorative, original antique fireplace and ornate ceiling.
The second suite is the envy of the villa and consists of two sitting rooms, three bedrooms, a sauna, and one bathroom with a shower and separate tub with a handheld shower. The first bedroom has a 2 twin beds 90 cm each, the second bedroom has two 90 cm beds, and the third bedroom has two 90 cm beds. A beautiful suite with two sitting rooms, a large bedroom, two smaller bedrooms, a sauna for two and a bathroom with a steam shower for a total of 2,592 square feet. The suite features beautifully carved ceilings of musical instruments. The lovely views are of the lake and swimming pool. The sauna and bathroom contain a beautiful fireplace, antique English bathtub and a steam shower.br>The third suite has views of Lake Como, 180 cm bed and a bathroom with a shower and Jacuzzi tub. Nicely situated in the corner of the second floor, the suite contains a large bedroom and bathroom totaling 1,224 square feet. The bedroom enjoys enviable views of the lake to the north and the south and totals 576 square feet. The bedroom is exceptional with an ornately painted wrought iron queen sized bed. Like the other suites, Suite Bellini is filled with antiques and beautiful art. The bathroom is fit for a king and queen and totals 648 square feet. It features Lombardy cotta floors, Siena marble tops, a shower and a large jacuzzi bathtub.
The fourth suite has a 180 cm bed and a bathroom with a tub with a handheld shower. Like the other lake-facing bedrooms, it has stunning views and beautifully decorated ceilings and doors. The Suite is 837 square feet and has a matrimonial antique brass bed with Lombardy cotta floors. The suite's bathroom is outfitted with the famous Parisian designer Philip Starck's bathtub, washbasin and toilet.
The fifth suite has a sitting room with a desk, fireplace, and views of the mountains, one bedroom, and a bathroom with a tub with a handheld shower. The bedroom has a 180 cm bed . A large bedroom and equally large sitting room that face the mountains and the village of Moltrasio. Together with the bathroom, this suite totals 1,578 square feet. The sitting room has a marble fireplace and antique writing desk. The bedroom has a beautiful antique Pugliese matrimonial bed and rich antique furniture. The bathroom is 444 square feet and contains Philip Starck designer bathtub, washbasin, and toilet. The bathroom features fabulous views of Lake Como.
THE GARDENS
Off the kitchen is an outdoor play area with beautiful wooden slide, swing set and rope climb. The gardens of Villa Bellissima are considered some of the most historic and beautiful on Lake Como. Guests can cut their own flowers in the Cutting Garden or Rose Garden for fresh flowers in the villa. There is also an extensive vegetable garden and orchard so that guests can enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables during their stay. The Swimming Terrace is the warmest part of the garden and is filled with lemon and olive trees and incredible views. Overlooking the swimming pool is Sant Agata's 12th century bell tower. There is also a beautiful 200 year old greenhouse on the terrace, 11 working fountains on the property, a dock area is built of antique Moltrasio stone both and steps into the water for lake swimming. The dock area is filled with roses, creeping jasmine and oleander. We will be happy to help you rent a boat during your stay
